1. Does "though his actions cannot implicate him in falsehood, his words may" mean

a. he can lie but his actions can not

or

b. Although his actions show that it is a pure machine, but his words say that it may or may not be a machine.

2. Does "whether he professes to play chess or not, we are not informed" mean "whether he is the person who plays the machine or not, we do not know yet"?
