can/is allowed to has expired?

Is the following sentence correct?
"Specifies how many days ago a definition can has expired to still be considered as required for loading."

It sounds weired to me...

What I want to say:
The above is a description of an input field in an application in which the user can specify an amount of days.

Usually only definitions (some data) that has not expired should be loaded, but in certain cases we still need to load definitions that have expired, let's say, two days ago. In other words, it's a tolerance for the valid thru date of a definition

TIA
