Can/could

Asking a store attendant:

I was wondering, can/could I get tax refund for this book in Paris.

Top answer

"can" is slightly more direct/definite; "could" is slightly more indirect/tentative. There is not a huge difference in this sentence. The sentence needs a question mark.
