Can/could

I'm trying to say:

It's impossible for me not to care about her!

Should it be:

How can it be possible I don't care ab out her. Or

How could it be possible I don't care about her.

In those sentences there isn't really much difference. "can" is more direct and present in the real world. "could" is more indirect and in the world of the imagination. It's much like the small difference between is and would be, below:

How can ... ? = How is it possible ... ? -- as I know it really is -- in real life

How could ...? = How would it
