Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Here is my essay:
Unfortunately, because of the rising needs, humans have started to squander and exhaust most natural resources. And when it is time to face the consequences of what we have done, the mass extinction in the floral and fauna is believed to be the most noticeable problem to solve. However, whether or not there are other urgent environmental issues to be prioritized over the above. In my view, we have problems related to the environment which are more weighty than the vanish of many animals and plants to be put in priority.
To begin with, the disappearance of species on a large scale will break down the food chain and might turn the biological world upside down. But with the advancement of today's technology and science, any beings could be preserved and bred in the laboratory later on. Therefore, less to no species is likely to go extinct. Moreover, scientists are able to recognize animals and plants that are under threat of extinction early through precise data and research; as a result, they will be put under legal protection. Hybridity, furthermore, can be utilized to create new species with more productive and better-resistant-to-extreme-environment features to regain biological diversity.
On the other hand, the melting rate of ice glaciers at two poles of the globe is accelerating due to the greenhouse effect, which is predicted to have irreversible results. In other words, such melting will directly make the sea level rise to an unimaginably high scale causing hundreds of cases of floods and hurricanes all over the world that leaves humans no time to manage. In addition, although holes in the ozone layer are becoming bigger, there is little that we can do and have done to maintain them. Consequently, the UV rays in the sunlight will damage our skin and even cause fatal diseases such as skin cancer. Besides, a lot more detrimental environmental issues are queuing in line and awaiting humans to tackle.
To conclude, I can understand why people contend the extinction of species to be the first and foremost problem to deal with concerning problems of the environment; but it seems to me that we should focus on tackling other major environmental issues before getting to the disappearance of animals and plants.
