Can you take a quick look at my sentences

He saw his wife going around in the market (but he hates his wife)
If I were in that situation, I would pretend as I was buying something so as not to be seen by her.

Are these sentences okay? Should I change were in that situation to were there / were you?

  • They are OK as shown, though I would probably write them as follows: A man who hates his wife happened to see her at the market.
  • If I were him, I would pretend that I was buying something so she wouldn't see me.
