A couple of points I'd like to make...

This = I like this car here. The car is near you.

That = I like that car over there. The car is a away from you.

If you are in a car with someone being stuck in traffic you would say:

Yes, 'Do you always get stuck in traffic like this . . ' suggests that the speaker and the listener are in a car in the middle of the traffic.

'Do you always get stuck in traffic like that . . . ' is also OK. It just suggests that they are not in the traffic at the time of speaking. eg Perhaps the driver
