Can you rewrite the sentence correctly?

In 1988, the book which I bought was a good one. (Should there be a comma before the word which and after the word bought?) If yes, please explain why.

I think you want one of these:

1. The book which I bought in 1988 was a good one.
2. The book, which I bought in 1988, was a good one.

In 1 you're telling us which book you're talking about.
