Motivation Letter

Dear Sir or Madam;

I am writing this letter to apply as a graduate student for Biotechnology master degree program at Wageningen University funded by NFP fellowship; I am very excited by my decision to pursue my Master’s Degree at Wageningen University. I believe that their approach will enable me to acquire knowledge and skills that will help me meet new professional challenges. I heard about Wageningen University from my brother who recommended it for me then I have made the necessary contacts with the Ms/Petra van Dijk to ensure that I am eligible to apply for the academic year 2012. She also recommended NFP fellowship for me to ask for fund.

I have studied Veterinary Medical Sciences at faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University, Egypt, from 2004 to 2009. During this period I have achieved excellent results and I obtained the 2^nd rank between my colleagues especially in the last three years and for this excellence, the faculty employed me as a demonstrator in Virology Department, I have chose this department as I have great interest to study this branch, also headmaster of Virology Department recommended me for positioning in this department as he prefer to select active, hard worker and cooperative students who is also interested in Virology. Since then, I have registered for post graduate studies (Diploma of Microbiology), after obtaining this Diploma in January 2012 I will be able to register for Virology master Degree in March 2012 but I am planning to obtain my master degree from well known university as Wageningen University.

I am particularly interested in research related to Medical biotechnology, especially Vaccine biotechnology. Since I have joined Virology Department, I was trained to be a laboratory scientist, work individually or with a team; I am also endeavoring to upgrade my education by using new methods and protocols when taking part in research under the instruction of my supervisor; I am planning for further studying of vaccine biotechnology, so that I can be a well-equipped and professional researcher, So I would like to have the opportunity to enroll in your master's course, the Biotechnology master program. This top-level program will provide me advanced knowledge in the field of medical biotechnology especially vaccine preparation. In addition, I will have the opportunity to meet different people from different cultures, offering me different points of view and contributing to my flexibility and creativity. Moreover, publishing strong scientific paper or papers in journal with high impact factor, this will benefit all of us (Wageningen University, Zagazig University, Student and Supervisor).

Personally, I am someone who is self-motivated and ambitious. My teachers and supervisors know me as a courteous and resourceful student, and my classmates know me as a pleasant friend and an enthusiastic co-worker. With my good command of English, I will not have difficulty in studying subjects taught in this language as I have studied all my veterinary courses in English for five years beside another year and half in my post graduate diploma, moreover I am teaching Virology in English. I have also taken part in many social volunteer activities and worked with foreigners, so I am able to adapt to a constantly changing work environment and maintain good working relationships with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.

To me, as a young prospective researcher, I realize that deep and solid education is needed to have a critical understanding of the problems that my country is facing and their solutions, so my dream is to devote a part of my life for the development of biotechnology in my country. Egypt is still developing country; who suffer from some endemic viral diseases which need innovation of suitable vaccines, Therefore, if I successfully graduate from the Wageningen Biotechnology Master Program and make practical use of what I have learned, I may be able to lead a group of researchers in the future who can share in eradication of this diseases. Moreover, through scientific achievement, I want to demonstrate to the world that the Egyptians can do more than being good soldiers in war; we are also good at learning, research and scientific innovation.

I hope that I will be admitted in your master course, I understand that admission is competitive, but I am also confident that I'm qualified and eager, and prepared to meet all of its challenges
