Can you review my college essay?

Since I could walk, like many young girls, I would dress up and drag my baby doll around, change her diapers, feed her, and bandage her up when she had a fall. This baby-obsesses ion, unlike for many, was not a phase for me; it has continued throughout my whole life. I started babysitting for family friends who trusted me at a young age and later moved on to neighbors and others who were recommended to me. At one point, babysitting was my only income and was overwhelmed by the many hours; I took on too many families at once and had to tell a few of them that I will no longer be able to watch their children any longer. I never thought babysitting would start from just one family and turn into a double digit number. Parents have thanked me in many ways and expressed to me how much their children love me and look up to me and how happy they are to have such a good role model for their kids. Besides babysitting, I spread my love for children at a Lutheran General Hospital which I volunteer for once to twice a week. There, I help with anything possible and am touched by every child's story. I have spent endless hours with extreme cases like cancer patients who are five or six and other children who just have a sprained ankle. Listening to their struggles and watching them makes me want to help them as much as possible. Currently, I am just a volunteer so I am not able to help their health, but I can help their spirits. While volunteering, I am always on my feet and seem to be helping out with everything possible except for the things I really strive to do. I assist in organizing activities, cleaning up, playing with the children, and help with specific requests from parents, children and nurses. Other than babysitting and volunteering at a hospital, I also tutor a boy with a handful of learning disabilities along with social problems. He tends to struggle in many areas which his parents have a hard time understanding and helping him out, which is my part. I tutor him every school day and am his friend every day. We overcame many struggles throughout the two years I have been working for his family and throughout this time I came to really understand him and appreciate him for the thousands of areas he succeeds in miraculously. I have taught him a significant amount of things which are both school related and not, but the magical key is how many more things I have learned from him. I now appreciate and understand a lot more about people and the way the act due to the struggles he has.
Conspicuously, I am interested in children and helping them when possible. Beyond that, I have other fascinations and enjoyments in life, like biology. I am amazed by how everything functions so perfectly and the most important aspects of life are not visible to the bare eye. Biology amazes me and , in my opinion, is the most relevant to life compared to any other class. Not only am I able to explain certain biology and some chemistry related questions, but biological science keeps the world going so strongly. Health and environmental issues can be explained and sometimes even solved with biology. Other, simpler questions, for example why the birthday cake did not rise when baked, can also be explained with biology. It truly is a fascinating subject which I have a passion for.
I want to combine my two passions by becoming a pediatrician, which is my ultimate goal. I understand that the schooling will be a bit tedious at times but I will be focused on it because of how much I enjoy the science aspect of school. After graduating and finishing residency, I am sure I will be one of the lucky ones who truly enjoys their work and will wake up happy and eager to help others as my career.
I have very high aspirations which many would not have assumed so a few years back. As a high school student, I enjoyed the company of friends and the financial support from my parents. In my eyes, I was living the dream life, young with all of the time in the world. I did not focus on school with the idea that I am young only once, and this is the time for me to really have fun. I went on road trips with friends and loved wandering around thrift stores in search of fabrics that can be cut up and sewn into a gorgeous piece of clothing. Not until the end of my sophomore year did I realize that I have to stop relying on others and get myself together. My GPA was already low but I was sure I would be able to bring it up with dedication and a lot of hard work. I wanted to go to UIC with my brother and was determined to get in. Unfortunately, the year I decided to pick myself up was the year I actually fell apart. My dad had suddenly died just a few weeks before the start of my junior year. I was shocked, melancholy, and bitter towards others. I cried in my bed holding myself while the rest of my family invaded my house to comfort us. I didn't want to believe he was really gone, it couldn't be true, there had to have been a mistake. I was waiting for my guardian angel to drop my dad back into my life; it never happened, along with my high hopes. At this point, I cared about school even less than I did previously. My friends slowly started to drift away from me due to the fact that I just wanted to be alone or with someone else who understood what I was going through. I tended to mope around at home and listen to stories about my dad which my mom told me regularly. By my senior year, my grades were lower than ever but my hopes climbed to the very top. I knew that with only a semester before applications were sent in to colleges, I didn't have a chance. My plan was to go to Oakton Community College and start fresh.
