Essay topics: The restoration of old buildings in major cities in the world spends numerous government expenditures. This money should be use in new housing and road development. To what extent do you agree or disagree.
Today, it is believed that it is worthless to rebuilt old buildings because it costs a huge amount of money. Although there are some ideas indicating that government should spend money on the new shelter or infrastructure I totally agree that buildings with historic values should be invested.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that historic architectural styles are integral parts of heightening people’s awareness about historic values. In fact, the quaint old buildings are symbols of the nation’s history so it contributes to bringing stories from the days of yore to the younger generation. For example, the Great Wall, which is a long-lasting architecture in China, plays a role as a lesson helping people to commemorate historical events in China from centuries ago. From this point, the youth in China not only has a good grasp of history but also be proud of their own country.
On the other hand, in the tourism perspective, old buildings bring the significant source of revenue. Take the aforementioned example, the Great Wall attracts a great number of visitors who attempt to discover this construction’s secrets from all over the world. Statically, each year foreigners visiting the Great Wall contribute about 100 billion USD foreigner currency. As a result, the government can use this source of money to invest in areas such as education, health care, infrastructure and so on.
Nevertheless, I also think that the government’s finance is limited and old buildings does not always bring enough money to allocate to other areas of the country. Therefore, only buildings with substantial historic should be upgraded and preserved.
In conclusion spending money on the upkeep of old building should be a priority because of some advantages.
