Can you please correct this article?thanks in advance!

Despite global outrage and an international mobilisation (the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls became a rallying cry which has been re-tweeted several millions of times), this was not enough to torment the Nigerian government.
Nine months have passed since the abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls by Islamist extremists Boko Haram in the northern town of Chibok, Nigeria. Nine months during which the girls have been held in captivity.
And suddenly, on the eve of the elections, the government wakes up.
Did we really need to wait that the elections provide a strategic opportunity for action to arouse the interest of the Nigerian government in the fate of its young citizens?
What voter will be fooled by this morbid masquerade?
