Cycling is more environmentally friendly than other forms of transport.
Why is it not popular in many places?
And how to increase its popularity?

It is believed that in spite of the fact that traveling by bicycles seems to be more eco-friendly than other vehicles, not many people prefer this means of transport. This issue of unpopularity is caused by a number of factors and certain measures can be taken to promote the usage of bicycles.

To begin with, there are various reasons why few people cycle on a regular basis. Firstly, a bicycle is not considered to be the best choice for most dwellers to commute to work every day. Due to the hectic pace of life, people are always swamped with work; therefore, they try to shorten the time spent on transportation. As a result, they prefer to use other types of transport such as motorbikes or cars which can take less time. Secondly, cycling to work consumes more energy, which discourages people from choosing this method. For example, cycling on a hot and sunny day, or cycling a long distance seems extremely tiring.

However, several important steps can be taken to improve the situation. Initially, the authorities should raise the petrol price or impose green taxes in order to encourage people to cease using those kinds of fuel-consumption vehicles. By this way, more people would choose bicycles as their primary means of transport because they can neither afford the pricy cost of fuels nor waste money in taxes on their cars or motorbikes. Besides, the government should improve the quality of the road to ensure the safety of cyclers. To illustrate this, bike lanes dedicated should be erected, which would make it easier and faster to travel by bikes.

In conclusion, there are some reasons why bicycles become less common in today’s world, and feasible solutions should be adopted to gain more popularity among the citizens.
