Can you please check my informal letter?

I have a writting task (in Laser workbook). I need to answer the letter from "my friend John". Please check my writting.

It was great to hear from you! Glad you're starting to like English - at last! It sounds like tourism might suit you.
My part: I surprised to hear about Martha and Don, given them my congratulations!
My holiday in America was great! We travelled by car and I saw so much interesting places and things, like the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, the Declaration of Independence, the White House, the Grand Canyon.
I have a lot of photos and I'll send it to you by e-mail.
