Can you or can't you say..........

Somebody just told me that it is incorrect to say AT THIS MOMENT.......odd I think. There is a web page Write at this moment which is a page for Non fiction Writers.

And once I was told that it is incorrect to say 'I haven't seen her since five years ago'.........I realize you can say 'for five years just as easily but what is WRONG with since five years ago. I even saw it on one of Sue OConnell's First Certificate exams.

One last one ---- I have been there also.

I have also been there.

Also I have been there.

In my opinion, only two of these are correct. Is there anything wrong with any of them.

I am open to any and all opinions, IF YOU FEEL like helping me out.Emotion: smile

Hi Anonymous,

The present perfect , in general, is used to specify an action happened at an unspecificed time before now.So, the adverb/adjective 'ago' should be used in past tense.

Some valid expressions in present perfect: ever, never, once, yet, many times, several times, since, yet,so far..etc.

(E-x)

I haven't seen her during the last five years. (Present perfec

These examples all seem to be examples of the most idiomatic way to say something, not necessarily the only correct way. They also seem to be directed at those whose native language is Spanish or some other Romance language. "in this moment" is what people from Romance languages use to mean "right now". "in this moment" is not something a native speaker would generate to mean "right now".
