Children nowadays watch significant more television than in the past, which reduces their activity levels accordingly. Why is this the case? What measures can you suggest to encourage higher levels of activity among children?
Children around the world are now facing a global addiction to a ubiquitous form of entertainment – watching television. It is generally believed that TV channels have become so appealing and diversified that everyone, including children, finds it hard to miss. Yet, the fundamental reasons have still been hidden and ignored by the general public.
It should be noticed that TVs play the role as a tool to entertain everybody. However, when it comes to adults and their children, these are broadly used as babysitters. The days when mothers feed their infants outside for them to eat and play or parents take their kids out on weekends are long gone. Currently, people are likely to resort to TVs to keep children eat and play indoors which means the parents will have more time for relaxing. Not to mention, mischievous kids are expected to play in a safe and healthy environment where, to their parents, a spacious room with a multi-channel TV would serve them right. Undoubtedly, children are, all the time, accompanied by TV, not their parents and friends any longer. It comes as no surprise that they become TV addicts and miss their interesting outdoor activities.
Furthermore, children these days become more reserved than ever. They tend to stay inside and enjoy themselves by watching their favorite reality shows, idols’ concerts, music videos. And it cannot be denied that these TV programs are so high-entertaining and attracting that everyone falls in love with. As a result, children find it unnecessary to go out and have fun while all things they love are available at home. Without a chance to put themselves in diversified situations in the outside world, children will be seriously lacking in life skills.
To solve the problem, parents should be perfectly aware of the importance of extracurricular activities to their daughters and sons, additionally, limit their time sitting in front of TV, make them go out more and place less emphasis on studying. Thus, children would have time to go out and explore the world, gain priceless experience and learn good things at their own pace.
