In many countries schools have severe problems with student behaviour. What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?
The 21st century has witnessed an unprecedented increase in terms of students’ disrespectful behaviors at school. This essay will elaborate on the causes of this phenomenon and provide potential solutions.
To commence with, there are countless factors contributing to the fact that students tend to have defiant actions at school. First and foremost, a lack of parental guidance is responsible for those behaviors. To elucidate further, on the account of the massive amount of work that parents have to cope with their workplace, children do not get adequate attention from their birth-givers, which then results in children’s rebellious behaviors with the purpose of getting attention. Taking American parents as an example, due to their rapid pace of life, they often hire babysitters to take care of their children, those children have deficient care from their birth parents. Additionally, learners’ misbehaviors can be a consquence of lack of deterrence in the punishments given by teachers. Specifically, despite school rules given by the principals, their punishments for the misbehaved pupils are insufficient, which is in contrast to the influences these learners have on the victims. For instance, for a student who has bullied other partners, their chastisement towards that is just an apology as opposed to the mental breakdown of the victims.
However, there are some possible steps to be taken in order to deal with this issue. One feasible solution that can be considered is that there need to be more lessons about soft skills for students. To be specific, the educational system these days is paying numerous concentration to theories instead of prioritizing soft skills’ significance. Therefore, by providing these meaningful lessons, not only learners can reduce tension at school but also tutors can enhance their relationship with pupils since they can replace those students’ parents in providing social skills to their students. Japanese teachers have been successfully applying these methods to pupils and preventing them from crimes, which results in the reduction of the criminal rates in this nation.
In conclusion, although there are numerous reasons for the increasing improper actions at schools by students, particularly lack of attention and deterrence, some possible approaches can alleviate the problem but they need assistance from both parents and teachers in order to mitigate the rates of students’ behaviors.
