Can you "make" a payment?

Hi!

Is this okay?

The account for making the payment

I know that this is not complete sentence as this is the heading for the section of a text that deals with account information (account number, bank etc.).

So, my question is - can you "make" a payment?

Thank you!

You can "make" a payment -- that much is fine. However, "The account for making the payment" is not a good phrase in my opinion. The word "for" seems vague and unsatisfactory, especially since you can make payments both to and from an account.

  • "The account from which the payment will be made" is clearer, assuming that's what you mean.

Thank you for explaining that!
But does it work vice versa as well?
Namely, is it correct to say:

The account to which the payment must be made

Thanks!

It is correct English, but check whether "must" is correct in your situation.
