Can you make 24 ?

Hi all

Using the numbers 1,3,4,and 6 can you make it = 24 ?

You can use each number only once, and Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are all that is allowed.

You cannot pair numbers together ie.... 14-6 x3 = 24 is not allowed . Neither can you use "powers".

Hey I think I've got it! 6! / 4!

  • Hey I think I've got it!
  • 6!
  • / 4!
  • - 3!
  • 1 = 720/ 24 - 6 = 30 - 6 = 24

I have a simple solution ...just rotate the 6 vertically making it a nine 9 ...then

9 * 3 - 4 + 1 = 24

et voila...

[:^)]Haven't you noticed the factorials that I used? I mean this-->> "!" If I write 6!, it equals to 6.5.4.3.2.1 ...

Therefore I suppose my answer can be acceptable..

Ear, you missed the exclamation marks - the factorial sign.

x! = x * (x-1)*(x-2)*(x-3)*....* 3 * 2 * 1.

Now see? Dj's solution works out.
