Can you highlght the grammar and other mistakes in my essay

With the world in a political situation as it is, every
aspect of politics effect us to include:financial,
foreign relations, and politics at home. It is so easy
to get distracted from what goes on by the vast issues
that we face as a nation on the national and
international levels, and forget what happens at a local
level which directly effects us more on a personal level.
Contrary to belief, my attitude in regards to what
happens in politics is more in tune than what many of the
Baby Boomers perceive. The Political process in general
has effected me by the local taxes, legislation at the
local and state levels, and the support and sometimes
questionable contingencies of constituents raving their
tunes in political ideology. The attitude that we deal
with in many of today's generation tends to stray away
from politics, race, sex, and religion in order to avoid
controversy in the work place or even with peers that are
a tad more fevering when it comes down to who they
support or how they feel towards a certain issue.
Politics, like many of the other issues I personally deal
with as a member of today's generation keeps me in tune
with my surroundings and reminds me of the rights my
ancestors had, which allows me to have belief to interact
and be a part of the voting process.

Local politics tend to draw us in even if we are
not a direct participant in the process. How many times
has a bill or motion been made at a local school board
meeting and we have said, "That's wrong or It should have
been voted down?" It's a frustrating occurrence. This
generally makes you feel helpless. Especially if your
voice seemed to have gone unheard. Sure, with the daily
life that we live with work, our personal life, and
extracurricular activities; we cannot make every meeting
at the school board. We cannot be at town meetings when
agenda's are presented for district voting, but there is
an outlet that we have as an option and that is
voicing our opinions to our selected representatives on
how we feel or even with alternate options to what is
proposed. This empowers and satisfies me on how I feel
in regards to my voice being heard.

Another reason for my positive attitude and
keeping abreast in politics stems back to past
generations in my family that did not have the
opportunity to participate openly in voting and even
expressing their voice on key issues due to segregation.
The Jim Crow Laws that were being observed at the time
had its limitations, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965
had not been passed. I am not a subject matter expert
in every political field or agenda that comes about, but
I do tend to educate myself to the level of having a
basic knowledge of different issues which in turn allows
me to inform my children and relatives of what is coming
about and how it may effect us in the future. I know in
the past, many of my relatives just did not have that
option nor the educational background to follow through
as I can. As a result, this has been a prompt
in my responsiveness to current day politics.
In 2008, presidential hopeful Barrack Obama, cast
his entire campaign on "Change". This was a period of
enlightenment for my generation. The element of "Change"
was the final piece of the puzzle for me and my beliefs
and concerns with the American political system. It
was the opportunity that we so waited on to allow our
voices and attitudes to be heard. A new attitude that
was not quite the status quo of past generations that
stood so bold in the Reagan and Bush administrations. It
was the opportunity for liberalism to finally be heard
far past the ideology of Clinton's "Don't ask don't tell"
policies. It was with this campaign I felt that the
complete voice of America was being heard, and also the
playing field in regards to politics had truly been
leveled as to any man, woman, or belief could be heard.
This was the pinnacle for me in politics that gave me
gratification in the political process and system. It
was with this, I was able to maintain faith in knowing
that our system regardless of the imperfections that are
so commonly boasted still represents our best interest as
a nation several hundred years later.

I personally feel that politics is and ideology,
but it is also something that is tangible that you can
take ownership of and run with it, if you are so inclined
to. Each person has different levels of faith and
involvement in the political arena. For each of us, this
is a personal endeavor that we must survey ourselves as
to where we want to see government go, who do we want
representing us, and what do we want for our children.
When it comes down to local politics or politics abroad.
I feel that my generation has not turned their back on
the political system, but for so long they have waited
for the opportunity to find a form of government that
would represent them and their new ideas. When you
compare what we are facing in today's generation versus
what the Baby Boomers faced, it is very much so
different. The challenges and attitudes that we deal
with are key pivotal points and it is with this we have
to continue to express ourselves to reshape and structure
government for everyone.
