Can you help me with this sentence please ? thank you !

This sentence "Finally we convinced him of the problems that would appeare" Can i use the word "appeared" instead of "appear"? If not ,Why ?

But you COULD say "We convinced him of the problems that would HAVE appeared" (if he had followed that course of action).
