Can you help me with these sentences?

Hi everyone,
I am writing an article and I have some difficulties with a sentence. I have these two versions:
- teaching strategies for understanding, consolidation and development of clinical reasoning in occupational therapy students.
- teaching strategies for learning, consolidating and developing clinical reasoning in occupational therapy students.

Which one would you say is correct?
I have another doubt: can I say "undergraduates" instead of "students" if I am referring to university students?
Thanks in advance
