Essay & Composition Writing

Can you help me with my Ielts writing task 2, please? Thank you very much.

It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environment, such as the South Pole. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

The world we are living in is still a mysterious place but thanks to the advent of technology, we can come to places that once were untouched. This brings many benefits, especially to people working in the scientific field.

The opportunity to remote natural areas will help the scientists to collect and perform many experiments such as carrying out a study of different species or getting to know more about the insights of the Earth. Firstly, in isolated national places on this Earth, there are different kinds of species which is believed to exist that we have not known about. If the scientists were given the chance to explore these remote areas, we could learn more about them. Secondly, places like the South pole can be analyzed to collect information about the characteristics of the Earth, of what it is like hundreds or even thousands of years ago. With that, we can use them as a base for other more brilliant and helpful studies in the future.

However, we must acknowledge the fact that pollution in these areas could be caused by ordinary visitors. Usually, they do not have a lot of understanding of the surrounding area that they travel to and this could lead them not being careful enough and would intentionally or unintentionally damage the place. Furthermore, most of their garbage is hard to decompose so that would damage the natural landscape and affect the environment in the long run.

In conclusion, I understand that opening to the public is pretty risky for these places because of all the possible destruction. However, I still believe in the benefits that scientists could bring through researching these remote areas are more important to the human race.
