Essay & Composition Writing

Can you help me with my Ielts writing task 2, please? Thank you very much.

Some people think rich countries should help the poor countries by giving money directly. Others believe that there are other more effective forms of international aid. What is your opinion?

Poverty is one of the most important problems that many developing countries face. However, which type of international aid is more effective is a controversial issue. From my perspective, although giving money directly is a good way to help poor countries, technologies and talents play a key role in advancing developing countries.

It is obvious that advanced technologies and science are the driving forces behind the rich nations. Thanks to modern technology, people can increase productivity through the use of machines and equipment. Robots, for instance, can replace humans in certain jobs with higher productivity and speed. With more and more high-tech products, innovations, and good management, the more material wealth accumulates, the more society will develop. Therefore, to help the poor, we had better give them tools of making a fortune.

Moreover, the developed countries can not only transfer technology to poor nations but also train talents and experts for them. The rich country can provide scholarships or financial support to talented poor students in developing regions, which famous Western universities are actually doing. Besides, universities can create free online courses in order to help students around the world have the opportunity to integrate new knowledge and progress of society. It is a wiser way to deliver help.

This is not to say that under no circumstances should the rich country provide aid in form of money. Although rich countries provide different aid depending on the situation, if the aid is provided in the form of money, the governments of the poor countries must ensure that the spending is reasonable and efficient.

In conclusion, there are many effective measures of international aid besides money subsidy, my view is that rich countries should choose to transfer technologies and train talent to help poor countries develop.
