Some believe that the Olympic games help bring people from different nations together, while others claim that holdingthe Olympics wastes money which could be used for important issues. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion

Important international events such as the Olympic games are often considered by most people as a good way to strengthen international relationships with other countries. However, others believe that this activity will never give them any benefit but instead waste the money that could be invested in other areas. In my opinion, both sides have their own reason but I still think the Olympics we should use that money for other things.

First, the Olympics is a good way to bring people from all over the world together. Because when a country is chosen to be the host for the event, tourists are going to visit that country to watch the games. With this, the host country can benefit by promoting the country's image and attract more people. Businesses can also make more money by selling merchandise to visitors.

On the other hand, some of the general public claims that it is better to use the money invested in the games on several urgent issues such as climate change, education, or health. Although this type of event can increase national branding and make some profits. However, if we compare those to the money that we spend during the Olympics, we will realize that it is better to spend them on more necessary things. Especially, in this time when we are struggling with fighting the Corona virus, we can have used that money to buy more vaccines or equipment to support citizens and end this pandemic.

In conclusion, even though organizing the Olympics has its own benefits by broadening international relationships, I still believe that the drawbacks overweigh them. So instead, we should use the money that was meant to be invested in the event to spend on more crucial issues.
