can you help me why does like this use a sentence? "We know not its depth"

Hi.

When I came run across the internet, I found that like sentence "we know not its depths".

But in my general thought , that has to be wrote like this " we don't know its depth"

But the first one is came from the movie scription. So maybe there are any different reason i thought. But I dont't so wold you let me know how to write like that?
