TOPIC: The first car appeared on British roads in 1888. By the year 2000 there may be as many as 29 million vehicles on British roads. Alternative forms of transport should be encouraged and international laws introduced to control car ownership and use.
The sudden spike of cars in the UK, during 13 years from 1888, raised a question of whether other means of transportation should erase cars’ dominance and international laws should be enacted to keep car ownership and use under control. I agree that these solutions should be executed as they are extremely efficient to the world’s state.
First, other modes of vehicles, which are eco-friendly, should be encouraged to reducing air pollution. Air pollution is a severe issue that could lead to multiple consequences such as global warming or respiratory problems. In that case, cutting down cars and replacing them with other green means of vehicles is a key consideration that could reduce air pollution most efficiently. However, executing this plan may cause another problem of whether everyone agrees and is able to change their transportation. In the next few years, it is impossible to answer that question; but in the far future, new generations of humankind with high education can realize the dream of replacing all the cars with eco-friendly vehicles.
Second, international legislation could be another key to protect our habitation. By shifting the world in a proper KPI with reducing car ownership and use, a great number of cars will no more appear on streets, meaning less air pollution in the world. Indeed, if all countries, including the UK, signed in an agreement of limiting cars, there could be double fewer cars on British roads than in 2000. As protecting the Earth is not the mission of any specific nation, international law is compulsory to prevent pollution all over the world.
In conclusion, I utterly agree with the topic’s statement, as using alternative forms of transport and introducing international laws to control car ownership and use are crucial to save our habitation, regardless of the challenges.
