Can you help me edit this cover letter

Hello World Vision Recruiter.
My name is Andy M********. I'm sending you my resume because I'm hoping you are willing to take a chance on me. I'm a young Christian who chooses not to identify but I wish to help those around me. I believe that you don't have to follow a set of rules to be a "good" Christian. I believe that being a good person, trying your best in whatever field you may tackle, to help those in need, should be enough to be considered a "good" Christian.
I do not attend a church, and have not, for quite sometime. I choose to believe that god loves us all and the requirement of attending church is something more for moral support: a shepherd for the sheep if you will. I'm not saying church is a bad thing. Church brings us together in worship and helps the community but, I understand worship and community already. I think what turns me away from the church is it is lead by people. We are not perfect I understand that, but when these people of faith abandon you in you hour of need you begin to question the church (or at least I did).
When I was young a tragedy struck my family; rape. But the church, instead of coming to our aid, instead of coming to MY aid, the church turned a blind eye. When my family moved forward with legal charges the church members seemed to shun us. We decided to excommunicate ourselves. Since then I think my parents have lost their faith. I think that's what hurts me the most. Not the abandonment of the church but what they did to my family. It's something that made my return to faith that much harder.
God isn't something someone or organization should take from you. I have faith in god and I pray my parents will find that light once again someday.
I understand that from the position I have applied my help to the community will be limited but, I would also like the experience of this job. I wish to further my skill and add this to my resume should I need it. I'm applying for the position of the trainee call center in Federal Way.
This position was shown to me by Kristina G******, a current employee at world vision. She tells me that that working at world vision is something she enjoys. She tells me though our faith we help those in need and at the same time are able to maintain a stable living situation for college students such as myself. She also tells me we are basically accountants. We help distribute donations to sponsored children or charities; I find my accounting skill could be of some use in this situation.
