Can you help me correct these sentences? Thank you!

He can cheer me up every time just by talking to me. If I've had a bad day or I've achieved something then he'll surprise me the next day with a cake he's made for me. He is always smiling no matter what happens and is always telling me jokes. When we first met, he asked me “what’s your degree?” I said “BS.” “Oh, that’s bullshit” he replied. He never takes himself seriously. He told me that life is short and the best way to deal with harsh days is to laugh.
