Can you help me correct these sentences? Thank you!

My father had to work for ten hours every day to earn a little money. Once, my father’s friend asked him to work for a project for free, but in turn he would be awarded the best citizen in our village . My father refused immediately; it’s unreasonable for him to work freely because he had to take of us. Even my father could gain public reputation, he wouldn’t do that. Money is the first priority for us. After five years, my family becomes weathy, but this conception remains unchanged.
