Can you help me correct these sentences? Thank you!

They didn’t have money to go to school. In my village, there were only four or five children who could afford the tuition. Receiving education was always a dream for my father and his peers. Nevertheless, most of people were struggling to subsist. How can you expect them to receive education? After the economic reform, people are wealthier. More and more people could afford the tuition. The number of school was increasing rapidly. Thus, people have more money and can receive education now.

Hi Yue Ming, it's a good writing I just have some suggestions: They didn't have (enough) money to go to school. (You can add enough if you want, because in that situation, people just hardly had money for their accommodations, food, clothes,... but not education yet) In my village, there were only four or five children who could afford the tuition.

  • (This sentence's grammar is okay, but the meaning sounds a bit strange, do you think so?
  • Because they were children, how could they afford the tuition themselves?
