I'm writing a motivational letter to apply for traineeship in Russia and I need all the help I can get. I only noticed the advertisement for this traineeship recently and the deadline is already in the middle of next week, so any help to improve my motivational letter even by little would mean a lot to me.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am applying for the (x) traineeship in Russia. I have recently graduated from University of (x) with a Master of Arts degree in Russian Studies. I completed Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Russian Studies with very good grades.
I always use my key strengths of intelligence, curiosity and perseverance. During junior high school, I passed a test to get to the class with a specialized focus in information technology and achieved A-level Computer Driving Licence (device and data management, internet and e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, databases in spreadsheets and image processing). I still stay up to date in Information Technology and completed two courses (Fundamentals of Computer Science I & II) in university.
I thrive on intellectual challenges, especially languages. I am bilingual, because I was born in Russia and moved with my family to Finland at the age of eight. Living between two different cultures since I was a child has broadened my outlook on life and made me an open-minded person.
In high school I took Finnish Matriculation Examination and received laudatur in Russian and magna cum laude approbatur in English and Civics. I participated in student exchange program during the spring of 2014 in (x) State University and completed all the courses there with the highest grades (spoken and written Russian, translation from Finnish to Russian, Russian literature, culture and history). My time as an exchange student was a very rewarding experience, because I had many opportunities to increase my language and social skills by meeting Russian and foreign students, visiting museums and theater, traveling to nearby cities and attending city events.
Aside from English, Russian and Finnish, I have also studied German and Swedish languages in university. I completed German Language Study Module with very good grades and my oral as well as written skills in Swedish are good.
I maintain my foreign language skills by traveling in Europe and in Russia during summers, reading books in different languages, listening to podcasts and by watching European films. In October I will take IELTS test in order to have an English-language certificate as proof of my proficiency in English, because my previous IELTS certificate has expired.
On the basis of the above mentioned, I am convinced to be able to support your goals. This traineeship seems an excellent place to start my career and since I think my strong points are good communication and language skills, I see myself as a really motivated person and thus a perfect candidate for your program. The challenges that this training position could offer me would definitely be rewarding for my future career.
Thank you very much for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
(x).
