In 1999, there was 20% of the total Americans accessing the internet, followed by 10% and around 5% those of Canadians and Mexicans respectively. The figure for Canada then rose dramatically and overtook that of the USA at around 45% in the year 2001. After a 10-year period of growing, the proportion of Canadians getting access to the internet recorded 100% in 2009.
