The given line graph depicts the number of consumed spreads, measured in grams over a 27-year period (from 1981 to 2007). The most striking feature of the graph is its downward trend in the consumption of three different types of products, particularly margarine, low fat and reduced spreads, and butter.

Butter consumption and margarine consumption contradict; for example, the consumption of butter rose between 1981 and 1986 and declined from 1986 to 1991 whereas the consumption of margarine decreased and increased respectively. In terms of butter consumption, since 1986, every five-year period has experienced a marked fall from just under 160 grams to nearly 50 grams of consumed butter, which made it the second lowest consumed product in 2007 and merely one third of that in the year 1981. Butter consumption mirrored the decline of low fat and reduced spreads consumption falling to about 70 grams.

Besides, low fat and reduced spreads consumption surged to just above 80 grams in 2001, which caused its consumption passed margarine's after that year and beyond. Remarkably, its peak of approximately 83 grams was exactly equal to margarine consumption simultaneously.
