Ielts Writing Task 2: All children should study a foreign language in school, starting in the earliest grades. To what extent do u agree or disagree with this statement?
It is suggested that a second language should be taught to all children as soon as they access to schooling. I totally agree with this notion because starting to learn a language at young age is advantageous for them to learn more easily and to shorten time to master it.
Firstly, teaching a foreign language right after children start school helps them to absorb it more quickly and effectively. It is because children have great abilities to memorise and comprehend a new language automatically after they are born until four years and afterwards it decreases, according to researchers. As a result, while the seniors make many efforts to learn a language, it is easier for children to gain knowledge and skills of it. As a result, it is beneficial for children to prepare and learn a new language as soon as possible.
Secondly, saving time to be fluent in a language is another benefit for children to start in the earliest grades. In other words, learning a new language is a prolonged process that requires lots of efforts and practices. Therefore, if children adapt to a language at young age, they can have much more time to master a language and to have deeper insight into the culture or backgrounds of that foreign language without worrying about finance, jobs, personal and social life and many other things that are always adults' concern. It is why parents and schools should take this option into consideration to cultivate childen's development.
In conclusion, it is beneficial to give early language education to children at the begining of schooling due to its advantages of effective learning and time-saving.
