Can you describe 'stories' as high or low?

Can you describe 'stories' as high or low? Would an English speaker say this is natural?

The stories are very high. If you were to jump out of a first floor window, I doubt you would survive.
The stories are very low. You could jump out the first floor window and wouldn't even break a leg.
