Overall, spending on food and cars accounted for the largest proportions of expenses. By contrast, the percentage of spending on computers was lowest.

44% of expenses in 1965, which accounted for the largest part, was for food while the figure for cars was lower, at 23%. However, people spend on only 10% of their expenditures on furniture.

Likewise, the proportion of petrol in the expenditures in the same time (9%) was 2% more than that of restaurants (7%). The percentage of expenses spending on books was 6% whereas expenditure on computers stood at only 1%.

To sum it up, food and cars were the two main categories people spent most percentages of money on, however, computers was the least prioritized.
