Task 2: Many countries are expected to have a higher proportion of older people than the young. Is this positive or negative development?
It occurs to many countries nowadays that the older generations are expected and prioritised instead of the younger ones. This results in a debate whether this is a positive or negative improvement. While I believe that this woukd bring back a myriad of benefits to the applied countries, I hold a firm belief that this could leave impacts on the development of many countries.
On the one hand, the rise in the figure of old people is a solution to many problems of developing countries such as umemployment and low living quality. To begin with, as countries in the progress of developing such as Viet Nam, Thailand, and Philipines have a high unemployment rate. If there were more people of age than young people, the younger generations would be much more valued. As the result, more people would be amitted into desired careers. Furthermore, living quality could be improved with the increase in the number of aged people. Unless the rate of aged people rises, more hospitals, homes for the aged won’t be built. Hence, living quality of one country won’t be considered to have been improved.
On the other hand, there wouldn’t be much negative effects if the aged rate didn’t rocket. A large number of old people would affect national economy as a myriad of people need pension while not contributing their work to the country. This results in a holdup in economy, which prevents the development of one country. Thus, this problem can also lead to the lack of work force. Because of the decrease in the level of young generations, less people will be working for companies, which also leads to preventions in economical improvements. Besides, death rate is much higher when being compared to birth rate, as older people are more vulnerable to diseases such as flu and cancer.
From my point of view, I believe that due to economical holdups as well as high death rate resulted from the large quantity of the aged, I tend to gravitate towards the idea that it is the negative impacts are brought back by this problem instead of positive effects.
