PLANETARY DEVASTATION

Neglected. Denuded. Abused. And abandoned. This is the real image of our mother earth for the next 65 years. Year 2075: Planet Earth can be viewed from space as a red planet. Its surface is covered by rusty red rock and dotted with huge canyons and volcanoes, polar ice-caps and mountains without trees and very deep trenches which previously contained water. It appears that nothing lives in it, for it has no water and atmosphere.
The earth has experienced 4 great glacial periods (ice age) for the past 800 million years and this will eventually happen in the next 100 million years from our time as some scientists have predicted. But they were wrong, now earth is nearly as hot as Venus with temperature ranging from 200- 250 degrees Celsius. Global warming has completely dominated our mother earth, making it nearly impossible to sustain life. 70% of earth’s ozone layer has been depleted and lost all of its water and living creatures due to the erroneous and careless human activities. 75% of the earth’s atmosphere is CO2 and oxygen and other gases are only 25%. Any form of life is merely impossible in this condition of the Earth, for all of the essentials of life were burned by the earth’s intensive temperature.
If we will continue to perform these erroneous and careless activities, our mother earth will surely suffer all of these consequences 65 years later. However we still got 65 years to improve ourselves and we have all the time to refrain from all those activities that will harm our beloved mother earth. Global warming is upon us, the earth is getting hotter and hotter. One of the key factors in the greenhouse effect is carbon dioxide; this greenhouse gas traps heat in the Earth’s atmosphere. Each year, more than 5,500 billion tons of CO2 are absorbed by plants to make food. The level of CO2 in atmosphere is dramatically increasing because of pollution, deforestation, farming methods and burning of more fossil fuels.
Planet earth is the only planet that is livable and contains all the things needed to sustain life. There’s no other planet in the universe like Earth, that’s why there is a must for us take good care and give importance to it. The condition of our planet primarily depends on the people living in it. We are the only one to be blamed when such time comes that global warming occurs, all life on earth will perish; nothing will be left and no one will be left.
“The youth are the hope of our fatherlands,” Dr. Jose Rizal said, but now I can say that the youth are the destroyers of the world. Some of them don’t give importance to our planet and some don’t even care. Even though they are attending seminars concerning the preservation of our environment, still after these seminars they don’t apply what they’ve learned and again back to what they were doing such as burning plastics and smoking. How can we help save Earth if we don’t even know how to help ourselves, we aren’t thinking of what will happen to our future generation and we are not concerned of how they will live in the future, it seems to be very egocentric of us not to think of their welfare.
There are ways that you can help prevent global warming such as auditing the energy in your home, car pooling, reducing the electricity in your home and buying fuel-efficient cars are ways to help prevent global warming. We can report to our local government authorities to take the necessary action for those factories that are emitting excessive amount of harmful gases.
The future of emissions damage depends on several factors, demographics, economics, technology, policies and institutional developments. Future predictions do not look good for this planet if nothing is done. Without the help of emissions control policies, CO2 levels are projected to be 30 -150% higher in 2100. Our renewable resources will be very limited. With cooperation from citizens and government officials, we can slow the effect of global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Individuals can make a big difference in global warming; citizens can get involved with organizations to attract the attention of the government. People can drive less, or use more efficient cars, smoke less, even cigarette and pipe smoke are pollutants, and replace their appliances and household products with more energy efficient ones. Global warming is a problem, and it won’t go away without the cooperation of the world and its inhabitants.
