The conversion from high school to college is exciting and enjoyable, but can be very challenging. This is a great milestone in ones life. A step that students will either adjust to or struggle with. With many differences between the two, there are certain similarities as well. The more prepared a person is to face similarities and differences; the more successful they will be in the long run. High school and college are both educational grounds for student to grow, and enrich their lives with knowledge. College and high school are places where students fill their lives with numerous memories. Also, they both play an important role in making a person into a collected individual. In a comparison between the instructors, tests, and the classes of high school to colleges one can discern many differences, but also many similarities.

High school teachers and college professors have many similarities and differences. Both professors and teachers give tests, and both provide students with knowledge of that subject. However, there are many differences between the two instructors. One difference is that high school teachers are available all day for consultations. College professors have office hours where students can come for help if needed. Another is that teachers provide the information on the board for everyone to copy. Professors lecture on the topic and expect students to be able to identify the important points and take notes. The last difference is that teachers follow the textbook and provide assistance to help students understand the reading assignment. Professors may not lecture about the reading instead they provide extra information and expect students to be able to relate the classes to the reading. College professors show students that they have to be responsible and not rely on others for assistance.

High school and college tests are similar and different in many ways. Both high school and college tests have questions related to the subject, and a correct answer to every question. One difference is that in high school there are many tests taken in the semester. In college they only have two or three tests in a semester. Another is that in high school tests cover small amount of information because tests occur often. In college tests cover large sum of information because there are only two or three tests given in a semester. When I was a student in high school we had many tests so if I failed a test I had another chance to make a better grade for the semester. Now that I’m in college we only have two or three tests so if I fail one my grade for the semester will be affected. College shows students that they have to study more because they aren’t many chances to improve ones grade.

In high school and college there are also similarities and differences in the classes.

Both high school and college classes have students eager to learn, and an instructor ready to

teach them. One difference is that high school classes have no more than thirty students in a

class, but college classes have sixty to one hundred students. Another difference is that high

school students spend thirty hours a week in class, but college students only spend eighteen

hours a week in class. When I was in high school, I spent a lot of my time in class, but now

that I’m in college I spent less time in class so I have more time to study, read novels, and

start on my homework. College gives students extra time to do the things they love, and also

gives them more responsibility.

In college, the work is not that simple to accomplish. Students have to really buckle down and leave the parting alone. In order High school is very easy to succeed. It is not much that has to be done in order to pass the 12th grade and make it to college. The teachers well understand and they help tremendously to succeed in college, there should be major studying all the time. They both have many reasons why they are a like and having rules is one of them. So while high school and college have many differences, there are also many similarities.
