With increasing populations and ever-growing urban centers, many countries are losing their natural beauty spots. What benefits are there to protecting places of natural beauty? How can this be solved?

There have been increasing concerns over the negative effect of the growth in populations and urban centers on natural beauty spots. Because preserving these natural habitats brings a wide range of benefits, many solutions can be proposed to alleviate the adverse impact.

To start with, such natural spots play an important role in boosting the economy. In other words, these destinations attract millions of tourists to visit here to enjoy their beauty per day, so more job opportunities are created for local people not only in travel agencies but also in other areas such as the education sector. Moreover, nature has a positive impact on people’s mental health. Nature always has a calm and soothing effect on the human brain which reduces depression and stress levels.

Nevertheless, effective measures can be taken to minimize the population and urban centers' adverse effects on breathtaking destinations. First, the government should recognize these places as natural treasures and levy stricter laws on companies to prevent urbanization from destroying these places. For instance, some countries have acknowledged their natural beauty spots as national heritage sites and established law, which protects them. Second, local businesses should opt for environmental materials. This means they could hold campaigns that encourage people, especially visitors, to use their own bottles when they buy drinks instead of biodegradable plastic bottles to help businesses reduce their carbon footprint.

By and large, natural beauty spots benefit people’s mental health as well as their economy. And steps can be taken to alleviate the negative impact of increasing population and growth in urban centers such as using eco-friendly materials and introducing laws to protect breathtaking places.
