The bar chart compared the figure of men and women teachers in various educational stages including pre-school, primary school, secondary school, college, private training institute, and university in the United Kingdom in 2010.
According to the chart, while male teachers outnumbered females at higher education levels. Notably, preschool witnessed the biggest gender gap, whereas college had the same number of males and females.
In 2010, regarding nursery school, women teachers made up a particularly large proportion at 96%, which is nine times as high as men. Similarly, the gender gap is significantly large in primary school, where there were more than 50% as many female teachers as males. However, in secondary school, the number of women teachers accounted for only 54%, and for men teachers were 46%.
In terms of higher education systems, males and females were equally represented in college at 50%. In contrast, the data in private training institute had the number of men teachers outnumbered women with respectively 44% and 36%. This was also true of the university system, the proportion of male teachers in there was 70% which seven third as high as females.
