The graph illustrates the reported figures of incidents as well as injuries (counted per 100 million passenger miles traveled) by various types of transportation in the year 2002. At the first glance, commuter rail has the lowest number of both incidents and injuries while demand response shows the contrary which is it has the highest number of all.
Getting to the details, it is clear that figures of incidents and injuries of commuter rail are the lowest ones compared to four other types of transportation, at approximately 25 and 24 respectively. However, the number of incidents doubled to 50 and the figure of injuries also increases considerably to 43 when it comes to heavy grail. The number of injuries continues moving upward toward light road and bus, from 45 to over 50 while the figure of incidents stays the same at approximately 75. Significantly, as mentioned above, demand response has the highest figures of incidents and injuries. The number of incidents raises dramatically from 75 to over 250 when comparing to the number of bus. The figure of injuries also increases noticeably to 175, which makes it the highest of all.
