‎Can we use "Would have past participle" to express a subject's habitual idea?

I learnt that we use "Would have past participle" to express this idea that if I had done something in the past, I would have done something", but I have never learnt that that can be used to express a subject's habitual behavior.

For example,

?1. ?I would have taken some rest at his house before going to work, whenever he messaged me it's fine to take a rest at his house.

2. I would take some rest at his house before going to work, whenever he messaged me it's fine to take a rest at his house.

In this specific context, I think "Would have taken" can be read as "I's habitual behavior", so 1 and 2 seem to mean more or less the same thing to me.

I wonder whether I'm right!

Thank you very much for your help!
