Can we say " I like here"?

I know we can say "I like it here", but can we say " I like here"?

How so? If you can say "I prefer here", why not "I like here".

A: Do you like living there or here?

B: I like here.

you'll just have to trust us native speakers on this one. No one ever says I like here. You can say I like being here, or 'I like it here' if you want to comment on the place rather than your feelings, but absolutely not 'I like here.'

With your example you would have to say

I like living here/there.

I like it here/there.

I prefer it here/here
