Can we say a pile of garbage?

Could you please have a look at the following sentences, find possible mistakes and correct them and propose better solutions?

There is a huge pile of garbage in the picture.

There is a damp site in the picture.

There are tons of rubbish in the picture.

This subjects concerns the environment protection or the protection of the environment or the environment's protection.?

Got it. A garbage (or waste) dump (especially AmE) or rubbish dump (especially BrE).

I always wondered whether the word 'depot' is used in other parts of world to mention a dumping site.

In Pune, there used to be some sites designated for the dumping. However, to allow the exanding city more residential space, one of the sites made its way to be used as the residential area. The original name '

In the US, a depot is usually referred to a place where logistic supply are stored and distributed. It can be also a station of some kind, i.e. A bus depot (Greyhound), or a train depot. I don't believe we use "depot" for "a dump" for garb
