Can we put “the” before people’s names?

Supposing there is a woman in a tv series called Jane. I want to tell the actress that she portrayed such a brilliant character. Is it okay for me to say “ You portrayed the brilliant Jane”? Or should I say “You portrayed brilliant Jane”
