CAN WE CORRECT IT LIKE THIS
In the German version of "Cinderella", one of the cruel stepsisters had cut her toes off, so that the slipper would fit her foot.

It sounds OK to me. I wonder whether you really need the comma before "so". I'm not sure it is a "correction", because both versions seem all right.
