Can 'venture' be used at the end of the sentence?

He was pushed into the worst place ever ventured.

Can venture be used in this way to dramatize things?

However, other uses are possible: 'His was the most dangerous journey ever ventured.'

Thanks. I am assuming if it was a word like 'traverse,' then there wouldn't be any need for the preposition? As it is a transitive verb...
