Can this be correct?

During last few decades .....[rest of the sentence].
In this sentence I presume that the audience doesn't have any idea of how many decades I'm talking about. Of course, I'm aware that the usual usage is as "during the last few decades".

Hi, You have to keep the definite article, "the" because you know which decades you are talking about. Dropping "the" makes the sentence grammatically incorrect. Hamid

You have to keep the definite article, "the" because you know which decades you are talking about.

Yes and no. Few -means more than two, so the audience assumes at least 30 years.
As previous poster has commented, 'the' is required as you are talking about specific time.
